Little miss make up
so this was a requested blog post from my amazing followers. Here I will tell ye step by step through my driving experience.
Firstly, you need to purchase or borrow a driving theory test disc or book. I bought the disc from David washes in Dungarvan for around €22. The disc lets you take practice theory tests. From this you can watch your progress and learn. You can go over any questions you got wrong. I kept doing practice tests for months. Once I kept passing tests I felt it was time to book my theory test. I booked my test for youghal , I booked online and paid online by card. You can pick any available date that suits you.
I got up bright and early the morning of my theory test. I did another practice test before going to youghal. You must take a form of ID and passport size photos with you on the day. I went in and say my test. You get 30minutes to complete 40 questions and you need 35 or more to pass. I got 36/40 and was delighted to have passed. Once you complete the test you sit outside and wait to be given your score. If you pass you will get a certificate saying you passed. This will have your passport photo on it and your signature.
Once you you have your certificate, you must then take this along with a completed NDLS driving permit lisence form, proof of address, PPSN number and the €35 to pay for the lisence. I went to Waterford to get mine. You can get all details of where to get your lisence and what you will need on the NDLS website.
Your lisence will then be sent out to you via post. Once you have your lisence you can then book your driving lessons. I booked my lessons with john kelly in Dungarvan. You can find a list of driving instructors in your area online. I picked john because he was recommended to me by a friend.
Make sure you book an approved driving instructor by the adi rsa.
Lessons with john are €35 each. On my first lesson I got my EDT logbook which you will need a extra €4 for. This book must be kept safe as you need it for all lessons. The first lesson was a 2 hour lesson. John went through all features in the car like indicators, lights, pedals, gears, handbrake, mirrors and then he went through under the bonet as you need to know all these for your test.
You must complete 12 EDT lessons and you must have your permit for over 6 months before you can book your full test. The logbook is where your instructor fills in after each lesson explaining what you have covered and areas you must work on. You must then practice yourself with your sponsor. There is an area for you to fill out and for your sponsor to fill out. Your sponsor is someone who has a full lisence in which you choose to help you learn. My boyfriend is my sponsor.
I did two lessons and then bought my car. The lower litre your car is the cheaper your insurance and tax will be. I got a 1.2 volswagen polo. I am now 24 and I got insurance last year and it was still really expensive. The younger you are the higher it will be. I went through the AA for my insurance and they insured me with AXA. Browse around online for the cheaper quotes with the best cover.
I was so excited after getting my car I couldn't wait to get my L plates. My boyfriend drove my car home for me and on the way we stop at a garage so I could get my L plates.
I am now driving a year and I have all my EDT lessons done. I did ten of them in my instructors car and I did the last two in my own car. I also did a pre test with my instructor in my own car.
I have my my driving test booked. It's €85 for your test which you pay online when booking. The normal estimated waiting time is 10 weeks. It is really booked up here in Dungarvan so I put my name down for a cancellation hoping I can do my test soon. I am very nervous about doing it but hey if I fail I can always do it again.
The he same goes for your theory test if you fail it's not the end of the world you can always try again.
Hope you you found this helpful and if you have any questions just email me or snap me or message me on favebook and I would be glad to help.
