Little miss make up
My rose family.
Hey my loves,
I wasnt well and thats why I didnt post last week but im feeling better and im back to tell you all about the amazin time I had taking part in the Waterford Rose selection 2017. If you where thinking of doing this then you shold I honestly had the time of my life and made friends and memories I will never forget.
Tramore St.Patricks day parade
Pictured above was my first event with the waterford roses at the Tramore St.Patricks day parade. Here I am with my rosebud Miss Treasa Haynes. Treasa is my dads goddaughter and I have been mindin her since she was born. She is the sweetest little girl and calls me her best friend ( because I always paint her nails she tells me). I adore this cutie and I was so glad she was part of this journey with me.
The girls where very welcoming when I joined as they all knew eachother from a previous event at the dog racing. They welcomed me with open arms and made sure I felt comfortable. It was scary going into a group who already met and got to know eachother but I felt like the girls couldnt be nicer and made me feel welcome.
The Reg bar cocktail class
Above is our cocktail night at the Reg bar Waterford. from left to right ( Ann-Marie Whitty, Chloe McGrath, Ciara Buckley, Me, Vicki Caulfield, Sarah, Emma Kate O Dwyer, Nicole Whealan, Hayley Ryan, Sinead Murphy, Lauren Atkins and Holly Timpson Bible.)
We had an amazing night making cocktails and the bar men in the reg where very nice and helpful and made it a great night. We got our photos taking on the night for the Waterford news and star where our photos along with a bio on each of us where printed. My lovely mam wrote my bio and a huge thanks to her for that.
My sponser- Criostal na Rinne
Above is a picture of Eamonn Terry owner and craftsman of Criostal na Rinne. Above Eamonn is working on the famous shammrock bowl which he was chosen by the taoiseachs office to creat this bowl to be presented to the whitehose. Eamonn got hes design from the book of kells. The owl tells a story, it has a celtic knot which symbolises the connectino between Ireland and the US.
There is a duplicate bowl on display in the criostal na rinne shop and if yo havent seen it you must it is absolutly an amazing piece. Thanks so much to Eamonn and Crisotal na Rinne for sponsering me in this years Waterford rose. Below I will link Crisotal na Rinnes website for ye to have a browse at Eamonns amazing work.
Selection day and night
D-day arrived faster than we thought and was filled with excitment for me. Above is a photo of myself and Eoin one of the waterford rose organisers. This was taking right before my interview.
I arrived in th Tower hotel around nine on Saturday morning the 8th of april. There was make up artists from mulligans pharmacy and hairdressers from row unltd waterford brought in to make us glam for the day/night. I had my own make up done prior to arriving at the hotel. My hair was at 10.30am by the lovely Katie who did an amazing job and I absolutely loved my hair.
My interview was at 11.15am and I was really excited, I actually wasnt one bit nervous. The interview was 12minutes and it honestly flew by. There was three judges and they just talk to you and ask you about what your wrote on your application form. They make you feel very comfortable and we chatted away as if I always knew them ( but then again I would talk to anyone im a real chatterbox at times).
I headed back up to the girls after my interview and we relaxed and chatted and took loads of photos. A few of us went for lunch in the hotel which was lovely and we headed back up relaxing afterwards.
We had a run through and dress rehersal of what we would be doing later that night. We where then put into our groups for the group interviews. This was the part everyone was most nervous about.
Above is a photo of the lovely judges and as you can see from the photo the chair in front of them is where we sat for our single interviews.
For the group interviews we sat at a round table in front of the judges and they asked us three questions, one at a day and let us answer and discuss the topic mentioned.
My group got asked should women make the first move? which of course I answered with yes, if men can do it why cant women im all for women equality and I studied feminism in college which of course is why I think women should.
Secondly we got asked did we think the bus drivers while striking where getting support from the public. I said I thought they where but it was also hard for the public as they struggled to get to work and to where they needed to go. I mentioned us free travel pass holders who have a disability and we cant drive far and we depend on buses for transport to hospitals and appointments who wold support the bus drivers but who are also angry and left stranded by the strike.
Then we got asked did we think the Rose of Tralee was outdated. We answered with no we didnt think it was as it has changed and updated throughout the years. I mentioned how great it was for the rosebuds to see us been ladies and spporting eachother and making friends which shows them how women can empower one another rather than tearin eachother down. Bullying is a big thing in schools and we showed our rosebuds how to be ladies and make friends and help eachother which is a great value to give to any little girl.
After interviews we went back into rehersals where our escorts showed up in ther suits. They did a run through with us of what we where to do that night and then they headed off to the reg bar for a drink and us ladies headed to our afternoon tea in the hotel.
After tea and sandwhiches we started to get ready for the night. We all changed into our gowns and help eachother with zippers and sashes. Once dressed phones where out and we got loads of pictures togeather documenting our memories.
Above is me before the night started. My dress was a gift from my nanny which I picked out it is little misstress from littlewoods ireland. My shoes and jewellry where from quiz at debenhams. Make up by me and hair by Grow unltd waterford.
I was forth up on stage and I absoluetly loved been up there. I wasnt one bit nervous and I spoke away as I always do. Been up there showed me how far I have come and I even spoke about my depression and been bullied and I felt amazing up there and I was on a high afterwards. Years ago I would never have thought I would be on stage in front of 400 people speaking and I did this whole journey to show everyone with anxiety, depression, anyone who is or have been bullied, anyone with an illness that if you want to do something you can do it and there is light at the end of the tunnel. It may take a while to get there but when you do its the best feeling in the world and I wish I could do the waterford rose all over again it honestly was one of the best expierences I have ever had.
Waterford Rose 2017 Chloe McGrath
The gorgeous Chloe was chosen as our 2017 Waterford rose and I am so happy for her she honestly makes the perfect rose to repersent waterford in tralee. Chloe is so sweet and was so helpful and kind to everyone throughout the expierence. She sang a song on stage and blew me away her voice is out of this world. I wish her all the best in her journey and I cant wait to support her in Tralee. I will link Chloes rose facebook page below and I would love if ye could like it and follow and support her on her journey as our Waterford Rose.
Afterwards family photos.
